Self Assessment accountants
Find a Self Assessment accountant to help organise income records, prepare your return and explain what you need to review before submission. Tell the firm about every relevant income source and your deadline.
Services to discuss with a firm
- Filing your SA100 and supplementary pages
- Reviewing relevant expenses and supporting records
- Handling rental, dividend or foreign income
- Agree whether year-round questions are included
What should I prepare for a tax-return quote?
Tell the firm about employment, self-employment, rental, investment and any overseas income relevant to the period. Explain whether supporting records are complete and whether earlier returns need attention. The provider can then identify the work and information required.
Is preparing the return the same as year-round advice?
Not necessarily. Ask whether the fee covers preparation only, questions during the year, bookkeeping and responding to HMRC correspondence. Agree the deadline for giving the firm records and the date you will receive the return for review.
Prepare your Self Assessment enquiry
sole traders, freelancers, landlords and company directors may need this support. The exact work depends on your circumstances; confirm the scope before appointing anyone.
- Describe your business or income sources, postcode and whether remote meetings suit you.
- Give the period involved, your deadline, approximate transaction count and software.
- Explain which records are ready and whether earlier periods need catching up.
- Ask who will do the work, what you must supply and which tasks cost extra.
Check experience and responsibilities
Ask for relevant experience and check any claimed professional membership on the body's own register. Agree a named contact, response expectations and your approval responsibilities. A listing or subscription is not proof of qualifications.
